Important Information
HIRO in the US press
HIRO
has been all over the press lately, including a great placement in The
Oklahoman, a newspaper read by more than 800,000 people. The paper featured
HIRO in a recent article entitled "Market Saturated; Water You
Drinking?", which included a round-up of popular beverages like Red Bull,
Enviga, Coke Plus, and of course, HIRO.
The article features Sharon Stroud, a Tulsa-based nutritionist, who warns
against excessive use of energy drinks due to their high levels of caffeine and
sugar. However, she commends HIRO, please read a section from her article
below:
Hiro is an energy drink based on the Tahitian noni plant, so it doesn't
rely on caffeine for its kick. In its "mobility” version, Hiro claims to
support the joints; its "vitality” version boosts immune support; and
"energy” provides energy.
Stroud commended
Hiro, saying its low calorie and sugar content and proven herbs and nutrients
make it a great alternative to other energy drinks.
Gatorade is a
hydrating sports drink that has stood the test of time. Clemens vouched for
how its electrolytes promote the absorption of needed fluid. Stroud, however,
said Gatorade uses too
much sugar, food coloring and artificial ingredients that overshadow its
benefits.

Market
saturated; water you drinking?
By Penny Cockerell
Staff Writer
Quick, what's something everyone does daily to various degrees
that can either hurt or help them?
We all drink liquids, of course. But gone are the days when
choices were limited to tea or coffee, Coke or Pepsi.
Police
say missing woman killed herself
Not only have the variety of options expanded with so-called
energy drinks, fortified juices and "mood” drinks, but the options
themselves have us drowning in decisions between Red
Bull or Rock Star, Pepsi
Max or Diet
Coke Plus (with vitamins), or drinks such as Hiro that claim to boost
vitality, mobility or energy, depending on your pick.
Anyone who has ordered a cup of joe at Starbucks
understands how complicated coffee has gotten. And just as we learn the
difference between green and black tea comes a new version: white tea, which
has more antioxidants than the other two, but only if it isn't decaffeinated.
Diet Pepsi
Max contains 33 percent more caffeine than Mountain
Dew, which has one of the highest caffeine levels on the soda
market. Diet
Coke Plus is amped up in a different way: with vitamins and minerals.
Even the simplest of our consumable liquids — water — is
drenched in debate. The bottle vs. tap controversy has plastic bottle manufacturers
on the defensive for polluting. And while bottled water manufacturers tout the
pureness of their H2O, some quibble about which waters are acidic versus
alkaline, which are artificially "enhanced” with sugar and flavoring and
which actually taste better.
What is a consumer to do?
In the interest of preventing massive mind clutter, here is a
bottom-line guide on various drink types and some recommendations from the
nutritionists who study them.
Energy drinks
In a word, beware. Despite touting "natural” ingredients,
herbal supplements and vitamins, many so-called energy drinks rely heavily on
caffeine for their kick.
Red
Bull sells two-thirds of the energy drinks out there, but the market
is far from dry. In 2006, Productscan Online reported 321 new sports or energy
drinks in the United
States.
Nutritionists are concerned not only about the amounts of
caffeine in these energy drinks, but the sugars and carbohydrates, as well.
Roger
Clemens, an institutional food technologist and University of Southern California
professor, said Red
Bull is banned on his campus, largely because of the potential for
mixing it with alcohol.
"It's a very popular beverage, and I have to be very
protective of our athletes,” Clemens said.
"We advise none of our athletes to consume any caffeinated beverages
except coffee.”
According to a study cited in the May issue of Contemporary
Pediatrics, energy drinks tend to contain five standard components: caffeine,
guarana, ginseng, taurine and carnitine.
Only guarana, a plant that grows in Brazil's
Amazon forest that contains caffeine, has been shown in limited studies to
improve cognitive performance and enhance memory, alertness and mood.
Caffeine has long been known for its jolt of energy, but
nutritionists warn against drinking too much of it. Sharon
Stroud, a nutritionist at Wild Oats Supermarket in Tulsa, said the
caffeine jolt inevitably turns into a crash-and-burn effect that can cause a
slump and crankiness.
Caffeine also acts as a diuretic, which hinders proper
hydration. Stroud
recommended drinking three glasses of water for each caffeinated beverage
consumed.
Clemens
suggested noticing whether energy drinks — or any drinks — have a
"nutrition facts” label or "supplemental facts” label. In short, the
supplement label is less regulated, which opens the door for unsubstantiated
claims.
Mixing energy drinks with alcohol is a really bad idea, experts
said.
Boutique drinks
In the "sounds too good to be true”' department are drinks
that claim to reverse the signs of aging, burn calories and bulk up muscle,
among other things.
The makers of Borba water insist it has scientific backing that
shows its clarifying, age-defying, firming and replenishing waters will improve
the appearance of skin within one week.
Enviga, a
product co-marketed by Coca-Cola and Nestle,
includes polythenols found in tea as well as tea and berry compounds. Its
marketers claim Enviga
contains the optimum blend of green tea extracts, caffeine and active plant
micronutrients and will increase calorie burn and help consumers lose weight.
Stroud said
she is skeptical of Borba's claims and pointed out that water also improves
skin's appearance. She said the jury is still out on Enviga, which
is based on a thermogenesis, or calorie-burning, process.
They're still in the studying stage, and it is showing some
promise, but I wouldn't make any claims about it at this point,” Stroud said.
Hiro is an energy drink based on the Tahitian noni plant, so it doesn't rely on
caffeine for its kick. In its "mobility” version, Hiro claims to support
the joints; its "vitality” version boosts immune support; and
"energy” provides energy.
Stroud
commended Hiro, saying its low calorie and sugar content and proven herbs and
nutrients make it a great alternative to other energy drinks.
Gatorade is a
hydrating sports drink that has stood the test of time. Clemens
vouched for how its electrolytes promote the absorption of needed fluid. Stroud,
however, said Gatorade uses
too much sugar, food coloring and artificial ingredients that overshadow its
benefits.
"Over and over, even the physicians say, ‘Drink water,'” Stroud said.
Water
With so many choices on the market, here are a few things to
remember: Bottled water isn't necessarily better than tap water. Not all
bottled water is created equal. Most bottled water doesn't contain
cavity-reducing fluoride, which is found in most tap water.
In flavored waters, Stroud
suggested reading the label for added sugars and calories and avoiding those.
Some flavored waters, such as Fruit2O, are naturally flavored and sweetened
with no-calorie sweeteners, which is good. Added vitamins and nutrients are
good as long as they don't come with added sugar.
Be wary of drinks claiming to make you smarter or slimmer until
studies prove otherwise. Remember, many drinks with added herbs and supplements
often don't contain enough of them to make a difference, Clemens said.
Finally, keep this in mind: Your body is three-fourths water
when you're born, and it starts dehydrating from then. You need good hydration
for proper body functioning all around. In short, you truly are what you drink.

Acquiring
the suitable levels of minerals, nutrients and vitamins from meals is
very important, it can be very hard to achieve. Those who cannot get
the nutrients, minerals and vitamins they lack from what they eat, turn
to supplements and vitamins (e.g. Sulfur, Naphthoquinone (Vitamin K),
Pantothenic acid (B5) or Folic acid (B9)). You may be an older citizen
longing to do extra activities or a sports type keen to get greater
energy reserves, there are many assorted supplements accessible that
can provide what is important. Nonetheless, before you hurry out and
investigate your preferences, you aught to first sit down with your
physician and look at if there are any nutrition supplements you
shouldn’t be taking. (Related : Health And Wellness, Red

But let's discuss about health in the workplace.
Safety in the Workplace
Scores of businesses have begun to grasp that investing in the fitness
& health of their employees is a wise thing. They are also
beginning to realize the impact that it has on their bottom line. Due
to this they have begun to educate their people with the concepts and
pursuit of overall physical condition and health care. (Related :
Health And Wellness, Wellness and Lower Pelvic Pain.)
Teaching your workforce good health, physical condition as well as
safety concepts & conduct will not only give them greater
successfulness but also minimizes healthcare payments in sick leave.
The gain of fitness & health education for staff is two fold.
The staff will gain diminished levels of stress, and boosted levels of
self esteem and enriched physical physical condition with greater
stamina. The employer gains worker productivity increases, lessened
rates of unwellness, and develops employee leadership skills. There is
one other good result in this whole method - the 'community'. The group
will become, or keep on as a competitive business in the field.

Nowadays enterprises look to including worksite health care systems or
wellness, safety and health protocol to use them to boosted their
profit level. This has shown to be a successful investment with the
reward being more healthy, longer working workers, ever decreasing
turnover, as well as protection of the really important thing in any
business establishment, which is the people. Employers prefer to keep
the people doing their assigned jobs as fit as possible, and these
people need to have minds and bodies that are healthy to possibly get
everything completed. While every person must take responsibility to
remain healthy, regrettably lots of people don’t.
(Related : Health And Wellness, Health Software and Care Education

While your workers get busy in the daily life of work, children, and
different responsibilities, chores and tasks they fail to remember to
take the time needed for fitness and health care issues themselves. An
employer who handles reminders and meetings of health related things is
an employer that excellent people will want to be working for and
remain with you for a very long time. (Related : Health And Wellness,
Wellness Deutschland and Nutrition.)
Obviously we all age, physical and mental fitness is frequently taken
for granted and before we know it there is a hitch that presumably
could have been rectified in a proactive strategy in preference to a
reactive system. Utilizing a proactive concept could exclude loss of
pay of the employer and the personnel and family if managed with care
and regard for the wishes of both parties. Encouraging people to
maintain a healthier lifestyle outside of a job is a lifestyle that
will come into the place of work and constitute a great or more fitting
environment for every person concerned. (Related : Health And Wellness,
Southern Health and Holistic Health.)
Various firms have embraced this concept by including memberships to
gymnasiums as motivation bonuses, or even as new hire benefits. They
are utilizing fitness and health as a motivating instrument to win
promotions and better pay. So, if you are a workplace, large, tiny, or
otherwise, it will be to your gain to incorporate a health care and
fitness education plan. It could be a health and fitness program, or
incentive for your employees - to better care for them in addition to
your productivity in business. Find a scheme that complies with your
commercial enterprise needs and watch your reward on your project. Even
if it does not raise your bottom line much, it is still a great idea to
keep the program around for improved well-being and morale in your
corporation.
